What Happens in a Little Kickers Class?

Little Kicks introduces football through simple activities suitable for very young children. Sessions combine individual participation with group learning, allowing toddlers to become familiar with football without the pressure of competitive team play.

Children begin learning basic football movements such as:

  • Striking and kicking

  • Dribbling and controlling a ball

  • Moving towards a goal

  • Scoring

  • Following simple instructions

  • Taking part alongside other children

The activities are delivered in a structured format while remaining playful enough to hold the attention of younger children. Children can work at their own pace rather than being expected to perform at the same level as everyone else.

Football Sessions Designed Around Early Development

For toddlers, football is about much more than learning how to kick a ball. Little Kicks sessions are intended to support several areas of early development through movement, repetition and group participation.

Physical Development

Running, kicking, balancing and changing direction give children opportunities to develop coordination, movement and early motor skills.

Cognitive Development

Listening to instructions, recognising activities and responding to simple challenges helps toddlers practise concentration and understanding in an active environment.

Social Development

Being part of a regular group introduces children to taking turns, interacting with others and becoming comfortable participating alongside children of a similar age.

Why Parents Join the Sessions

Parent participation is an important part of Little Kicks for this age group. Rather than watching from the side, you help your child take part in the activities and become familiar with the class environment.

This can be particularly helpful for children experiencing their first organised activity. You are there to encourage them, practise simple movements together and support them while the coaches lead the session.

As children grow in confidence, they can begin developing greater independence in preparation for the next Little Kickers age group.

Sessions take place weekly and last approximately 45 minutes. A parent or guardian needs to participate during the class, and each group is supported by two coaches with a maximum of 15 children.
